Captain Niyah Potter
Niyah was born and raised on the smallest of the US Virgin Islands, St John. She was immersed in the island's rich culture and history from an early age, and her first love became the Sea after completing a "Kids and the Sea" program in her per-teen years, a love she has cherished ever since.
She knew exactly what she wanted to do after completing school, and went to work for the Inter Island Ferry company on St.John. Running trips between the US and British Virgin Islands, once she got the hang of things, she moved over to Cruz Bay Water Sports to run their FastCat and get more sea time. She was a natural and drove every boat in the fleet! After the devastating Hurricanes in 2017, she joined a Salvage & Recovery effort and ran their tugs and barges to help clean up the islands. When she was satisfied with the cleanup, she moved back over to the tourism sector, and shortly thereafter we were lucky enough to snag her for our vessels here at Midnight Sun Charters!
Aboard a Midnight Express with Captain Niyah at the helm, you will have the adventure of your vacation, if not a lifetime! Being born and raised on St.John, and a native Belonger to the BVI, she knows the islands in and out like the back of her hand. Her boat driving skills are unparalleled, and that coupled with her cheery, friendly demeanor, she is one of our SHINING STARS at Midnight Sun! SAMMY FERRIGNO
Meet Captain Sam Ferrigno. Born and raised in beautiful St John, USVI. Growing up he was always surrounded by the natural beauty that is the Virgin Islands, and from an early age he spent most of his time in or on the water. Becoming a Captain was a dream of his during his youth, and when he was old enough he made that dream a reality. His father John, whom some of you may know from ZoZo’s fame, instilled the hospitality charm in him early on, and Sam has been a social butterfly ever since. He loves meeting new people on charter, to show off his slice(s) of Paradise, and some of his favorite (sometimes “secret”) spots around St John and St Thomas. Whenever Sam is on the water he is loving life and having a good time, he looks forward to being able to run our sleek Midnight Expresses with you, our guests, aboard. Everyday on the water is a GOOD day with him! You’ll find Sam running our 37’ OPAL and 43’ ONYX, make sure to pick him for your next charter and see what he is all about. And if he looks familiar, well, that’s because he was also our Merch model and is mug is all over the guys merch in our online shop! ;)
JUSTIN COLBY
Captain Justin Colby, another of our favorites! He’s not just another pretty face, he is also our very own Encyclopedia Virgin Islandsica! He LOVES the history of the VI and will share stories with you in between snorkel stops with pleasure!
Growing up in SoCal, he developed his passion for the ocean, it’s marine life, and his easy going & friendly attitude.
During a family sailing vacation in 2012, Justin fell in love with the Virgin Islands and knew that one day he would call this place home! Shortly thereafter he "retired" from his career in engineering and finance to follow his passions and enjoy more time with loved ones. Midnight Sun Charters is now lucky enough to call him one of our own.
Rest assured Justin will do everything to ensure that you and your family have the BEST day of your vacation out on charter with him! Come and live his motto on your next vacation to the Islands and be “loving life, one Caribbean day at a time.”
KYLE BREGO
Captain Kyle Brego will help navigate you through your day aboard our vessel. Growing up in the Virgin Islands, Kyle has worked countless hours on commercial fishing, oil rigs, and support vessels, sail and motor, ranging in size from 12ft to 300ft. He has his Unlimited Masters Captain License from the U.S. Coast Guard, with endorsements, and CPR certifications. Kyle has been very active in the private charter business in the past years running charter boats around the Virgin Islands. We are extremely excited to have him on board our vessels to take you out on your very own adventure. Some fun facts; Kyle is from St John, grew up in Love City and has been on the water since a very early age. His passion, when not driving boats, is playing with his cats.
TEA DESMOND
First Mate Tea Desmond is a native of St Croix. After college she jumped feet first into the yachting industry. Working on private yachts she developed her amazing service skills and on the side got her Master Captains License. With her outgoing personality, and attention to detail, Tea will be sure to make your trip aboard ONYX the best day of your vacation! She is looking forward to meeting you.
